A Chairde,
As we celebrate the 19th year of the festival from 30th September to 2nd October 2022, we invite you
to join us in the beautiful historic town of Nenagh and the environs of Lough Derg to indulge your interest in the world of books and literature.
We have new events, new venues, and I’m delighted to say, post Covid, we can welcome you back to our unique and inspiring venues like Nenagh Castle, Nenagh District Heritage Centre, and aboard the Ku-Ee-Tu on Lough Derg.
This year is the 230th anniversary of the 1792 Belfast Harp Festival, where Edward Bunting first notated our Irish music. To mark this the committee have commissioned poet and harpist, Emily Cullen, and local musician Eileen O’Brien, to compose and perform new works in word and music.
Set in the 800 year old Nenagh Castle with its’ wonderful acoustics, this promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s programme. Our young booklovers will enjoy workshops and poetry writing competitions. The programme offers important support to new and emerging writers and invites you to enjoy high quality creative experiences in the company of some of the leading names in
writing today.
I want to thank my very dedicated committee and volunteers for the huge effort they put in to make the festival happen. Special thanks to our principal funders/partners The Arts Council, Tipperary Co.
Council, Creative Ireland, Nenagh Arts Centre, Nenagh Library, OPW and all our local sponsors and businesses, who make this a special weekend in our community. Thank you, whether you are a newcomer or a regular attendee, I hope you will have a weekend to remember full of inspiration, ideas and fun!
A léitheoirí is a scríbhneoirí, tá súil again go mbainfidh sibh sult as gach uile nóiméad den fhéile seo agus go mbeidh cuimhní áille agaibh agus sibh ár bhfágáil arís.
